Lionesses have no manes. How do they know when they've grown up?

They get freaking big and kill other animals that are freaking big, dude. Lionesses are badass, don't even get close to them. Like seriously, "oh don't worry, this is a teenage lioness, she's just dramatic" you're gonna die dude.
