About me

Gender Female
Location Oakland, CA, United States
Introduction My name is Melissa and I moved to Oakland, California in 2013 after having spent my entire life prior to that in Pennsylvania.

This blog has moved with me from Phoenixville, PA to Pittsburgh, PA to San Francisco, CA to Oakland, CA. It is a blog about my passionately vegan life, including vegan events I attend, food I cook, restaurants I visit, and more. It is also about many environmental issues, but overfishing in particular. Another frequent topic is type 1 diabetes, which I have lived with since age 8.

When I first started this blog, I was not yet fully vegan and I had a lot of loathing in me. I suffer with far less loathing now, but I've kept my blog title, as I'm used to it and it makes me sound all literary and clever and stuff.

Well, maybe they don't need them, but don't you think that some fish might like a bicycle?

Fish could use a lot more than a bicycle. Mostly, what they need is a worldwide break from all commercial fishing for a certain number of years in order to get their numbers back up. And marine reserves where all fishing is banned, permanently (and this must be enforced). The ocean is emptying. Don't even get me started.
