| Introduction | I'm a frustrated writer who knows how hard it is to write well, but also knows I'm too lazy to do it well. I've worked on newspapers, yearbooks, magazines as a writer, editor, or advisor since 1975. I became a ninth grade teacher in 1996. That sucked the life out of me in one year. I've never been the same since... I switched to teaching grammar and composition to college students. That was much easier. I know just about every grammar rule known to the English speaking world, but so what? Does that make me an expert on writing? I wish it could be as easy as knowing the rules. Great writers have great editors to help with that. Writing is not about rules; it's about voice and having something to say that others want to hear. I think I will stick with what I know best on this experimental blog for my eyes only - and that would be food, family, friends, and my adorable fidos (my three dogs Panda, Penny, Honey). |
