Introduction	Karori Cemetery is the final resting place of around 83,000 people. Between 1891 and the 1960s it was Wellington's burial ground, and in its earth lies a cross section of a city in all its colonial glory - Prime Ministers and prisoners, victims of disease and disaster, beribboned generals and the general public. The stories of those lying alongside its sunny paths and beneath the gothic vaults of the towering eucalyptus and pine trees are the stories of a growing population, and its growing pains.
