| Introduction | A citizen of the United States, France & Spain, Hélène Cardona is a poet, actor, translator & teacher. She attended Hamilton College, where she taught French & Spanish, and the Sorbonne, where she received her Master’s in American Literature. She writes & translates in English, French and Spanish. She worked as a translator for the Canadian Embassy & the French Chamber of Commerce and taught at the Ecole Bilingue & LMU. She is the author of Life in Suspension (forthcoming Tupelo Press), Dreaming My Animal Selves (Salmon Poetry 2013), and The Astonished Universe (Red Hen Press 2006). Her poems have appeared in The Los Angeles Review, Mythic Passages, The American Center for Artists, Askew Poetry Journal, Barnwood Mag, Spillway, Pirene’s Fountain, Mediterranean Poetry, qarrtsiluni, Maintenant 5, TRHUSH, From the Fishouse, Maintenant 6, Poetry International & in Illuminations: Expressions of the Spiritual Experience (Celestial Arts) and Dogs Singing (Salmon Poetry). Hélène translated the Lawrence Bridges film Muse of Fire for the NEA, What We Carry by Dorianne Laux, the poetry of her father José Manuel Cardona, Aloysius Bertrand, Baudelaire, Rimbaud & Jean-Claude Renard into English. |
