| Introduction | With a master in economics, I have, over the last 25 years, developed an expertise in the integration of the different aspects of sustainability in commerce. At Enabel (the Belgian Development Agency), I now coordinate the Trade for Development Centre, which carries out various programmes to promote sustainable trade and support producer organisations involved in this approach in Southern countries. I regularly provide advice in support of sustainability policy, both at the Belgian national level and in the framework of European Commission working groups. I participate in an informal parliamentary intergroup on fair trade within the Belgian Federal Parliament. Prior to working at Enabel, I launched Fair Trade Week in Belgium in 2002 and have been involved in the fair trade of handicraft products at Oxfam-Magasins du monde, where I was a member of the steering committee. |
