| Introduction | Opus -- the little fella with the Carmen Miranda hat -- is, of course, the creation of the inimitable Berke Breathed. As for the person behind the fruity penguin, I'm an academic of sorts, which is really just a fancy way of saying that people, quite unreasonably, pay me to read, write, think about Late Antiquity and occasionally talk about the synthesis of the former three. Long-windedness is a professional hazard. Dorkiness and the abuse of innocent commas, on the other hand, come quite naturally. |
