| Introduction | My name is April Giancola, and I am a 30 something Korean American who grew up on Long Island, NY and was raised by an italian father and jewish mother. I am no more knowledgeable about Asian culture or language than my last name infers. However, because of my Asian features, I am constantly commented to by total strangers about what I may or may not know about being Asian. Now that I have a beautiful baby boy who displays Asian features, I am also asked about my desire to raise and immerse him in Asian culture. I have kidded for a while that I would start a blog/journal because I cannot be the only one who is astonished by the comments and conversations I am immersed in. I intend to use this forum to share my funny stories of these encounters. So, depending upon my luck, I may post daily, I may post weekly or monthly. Enjoy the fodder as I have! |
