IntroductionHi, most of you know me, but some of you don't. A little background: I'm from a little poe-dunk town outside Buffalo, NY and currently live in a poe-dunk town just outside Harrisburg, PA. Finally back to the East Coast! I spent 16 years as a military nurse and have specialized in mental health for 25 years. Few years ago I decided that nursing in the military wasn't the best thing for me and cross trained to something much more nefarious. It's been great! Now I get to teach the next generation of senior Army leaders (those who no longer can do, teach). Yup, been overseas fighting the war a few times and yup it was hard and yup I was away from children during some that time. I did 9 years on and off as a professional historian for AF Space Command, and NO we do not have aliens. However, we really do have a Stargate and it's the coolest door plaque ever! That's where I started writing more frequently and I have a few journal articles and a book chapter to my credit. I met my loving husband "Lonnie" (all you Crossfitters will totally get the name) in Germany, we have 3 kids: Kai=14, and 12 year old twins Ayla and Orion.
InterestsAll the normal stuff and also violent stick sports (Hurling), violent drinking sports (Hurling), and relaxing Canadian ice sports (Curling). Oh, and Civil War History, Doctor Who and the like, and many other things that really should have prevented me ever finding a suitable DNA match, but "Lonnie" speaks Nerd more fluently than I, so really the hopelessness gets transcended to our future geek kids.
Favorite moviesNeverEnding Story-my all time favorite, but classics like SpaceBalls, Boondock Saints, LOTR series, and most of the Pixar collection are amoung the best. If you haven't seen Norsemen on Netflix, you are missing out!
Favorite musicIrish rock (Flogging Molly, U2, Corrs) and Celtic Folk (Great Big Sea, Natalie McMaster, etc). Pretty much nothing that's played on the radio (minus U2, who I finally saw in concert and they ROCKED!). I take that back, I love CBC radio 3 out of Vancouver Canada because Canadian rock is amazing! Arkells, The New Pornographers, Spirit of the West, I could go on. This was the "year of concerts" since everything was cancelled in 2020. We saw Elton John, Alan Doyle, Barenaked Ladies, Lord Huron, and They Might Be Giants. I fee like a teen again!
Favorite booksDoes the Chief of Staff's reading list count as 1 book, or many? I'm currently in the middle of three or four different books because I don't have the attention span for a reading list. Thank goodness for audio books, it's one of the only ways I can get my literature fix, although I'm going through Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles again because it's so good (decidedly dated in it's treatment of women and minorities, but otherwise good).
