| Introduction | Surely I am of the generation that is barely aware of the existence of the much maligned apostrophe? And would have no idea about the intricate magic of my mother tongue? I feel, on the other hand, to be one of few young crusaders of correct use of English. Despite the fact that, by having this blog, I will be able to publically voice my annoyance that there are people in the world that cannot spell ‘scissors’ , another primary motivation is to demonstrate that, contrary to popular belief, the yoof of today can still be pedantic about what is correct English. That said, I would not describe the majority of my linguistic rants to be that concentrated on the finer points of morphology and syntax, rather on the alarmingly moronic basic errors, grave mistakes, and complete abominations that a disturbing number of the public feel to be perfectly acceptable English. Therefore, I believe this blog can be enjoyed by even the most amateur pedant. And I also feel it will be quite funny. |
