Introduction	My Book, "Emily Dickinson as a Second Language: Demystifying the Poetry," from McFarland Publishing, is written to help the general reader approach the poetry. I read Emily Dickinson almost every day for nearly twenty years before venturing seventy miles west from my former home near Boston to Amherst, Massachusetts.There, I began attending poetry discussions and other events at the Emily Dickinson Museum and, in 2008, went to my first Annual meeting of the Emily Dickinson International Society. I've been a member ever since, and began leading tours at the museum in 2010. There I interact with Dickinson lovers from all over the world, and have come to understand what attracts so many and what most puzzles them in the poetry. Amherst is rich in resources for anyone interested in ED. I participate in three separate ED poetry discussions each month, and have the special collections riches at Amherst College and the Jones Library at my disposal. I realize few people are so well situated to grow into Dickinson's poetry, and my mission with this blog, and with my book, "Emily Dickinson as a Second Language: Demystifying the Poetry," is to spread the wealth.
