Purdie's experiences as a teacher and caseworker have inspired her to write Validation Denied, Grace Bestowed:somewhere between the ghetto and God was something called foster care… Validation Denied, Grace Bestowed is a memoir that offers a poignant yet entertaining insight into a teenager's struggle to defy the labels and stereotypes of living in foster care.
