About me

LocationLittle Rock, Arkansas, United States
IntroductionI've been restoring Historic Structures around the U.S. since 1986, after first apprenticing as a carpenter in 1977. Carpentry was (and still is) my forte', but after my first three years I tried everything. Masonry, roofing, drywall, building fireplaces, cabinets, and confidence. I learned much of what I know about old-house plumbing, electrical systems, and plaster from watching and helping masters of those trades. I'm not too proud to ask questions, haul buckets, or mix mud if I can learn about a trade. I believe in applying physics to my projects, studying historic building techniques, and applying new technologies to make old buildings last longer and cost less to run. Presently newly-arrived in southeastern Connecticut from Little Rock Arkansas, I've restored buildings from 1810 though 1930 in Arkansas, Texas, South Carolina, and Tennessee. I work as a troubleshooting restoration tech for Early New England Restorations of Pawcatuck. I dig gemstones, write novels, articles and short stories, play music that really bites, and chase tornadoes and girls. Sometimes I catch them. Sometimes there is trouble.
