| Introduction | I have been a medical librarian for two and a half years now. I never worked in a hospital library before this position and I don't have any medical or science background. Somehow my previous boss believed in me and then retired before I was ready for her to leave. I have always loved being in hospitals, my mom had lots of kids and I was the oldest. I think if I had believed in my self a little more I would have gone to medical school. When I brought that up to my 13 year old daughter a week ago she gasped and said, "Oh, mom, it would give you so much stress!" Then she sat there, it was morning and I was driving her to junior high. After thinking for a moment she said, "I think you would make a really good lawyer". I worked for a moment in a law library...that was enough law for this lifetime. I am a medical librarian for now and perhaps on my path to learning I will evolve into a different me. |
