Introduction | My career spans 40 years of work with weather. I began as an Associate Research Meteorologist for Calspan Corporation in Buffalo, NY, my home town. Soon after, I joined the National Weather Service in Buffalo as a forecaster, then Science Officer and eventually the Meteorologist-In-Charge of an office that covered the snowiest region of the U.S. east of the Rockies. I was honored to enjoy a "second career" of sorts when I was hired by The Weather Channel and FoxWeather as their Winter Weather Expert to cover the science of winter weather on a national scale on air for several years. I’ve published articles in professional journals and spoken at conferences in the U.S. and Canada. I was chosen by NOAA to forecast for both the Atlanta Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. I am now semi-retired, living about a mile off the Appalachian Trail in Tennessee and enjoy being outdoors in nature every day I can be. You can take the weatherman out of the weather but you can never take the weather out of the weatherman. |
