| Introduction | I have been captain of the Riverkeeper patrol vessel since 2000. From March through December each year, I travel approximately 6,000 nautical miles between NY Harbor and Troy, conducting monthly pollution patrols and water quality sampling of the Hudson River Estuary and NY Harbor. Riverkeeper’s boat program provides support for scientific studies that advance understanding of the Hudson ecosystem and the challenges facing it. We bring State and regional decision makers, the media, and community stakeholders out on the river to share our knowledge of the estuary including its wildlife, critical habitat zones, pollution sources and water quality management issues.
