| Introduction | My name is Dean Kokonas and I am a teacher of mathematics. I teach high school mathematics specifically and I am in my 14th year as an educator. For the past 13 of those years I have been teaching in public schools in the Calgary, Alberta area. For the next two years, I will be teaching Diploma I.B. mathematics at a school called Dresden International School in Dresden, Germany. Is this a bit of a change from the ordinary? You better believe it! I have exchanged my safe, comfortable life in Okotoks, Alberta for an opportunity to experience something new and interesting. I have no frame of reference for something like this and that's ok with me. My wife Gena has agreed to indulge me this adventure and has graciously accepted the challenge of living in a new country. I couldn't do this without her. I have decided to keep this blog as a way for me to document my thoughts and experiences. We have decided not to go back to Canada for 2 full years.
