| Introduction | I enjoy life with my wife and son, in the heart of "Amish" country! In spite of losing my eyesight in 1988 due to complications with my diabetes, I still enjoy keeping busy, especially now that I am working on a novel. I don't think I would have delved into writing had I not lost my sight. God created me as an artist, and prior to losing my sight, my skill as a draftsman and my ability to create served me well. I also played saxophone and some piano, and taught myself to play a 12-string guitar after I had lost my sight. I also earned a BS in Bible from Lancaster Bible College while blind. I served as a Program Director for a ministry called "Neighbors Who Care" from 1995 to 2000. This ministry was founded by Chuck Colson of Prison Fellowship. I was responsible for the Lancaster County chapter, and I was charged with overseeing the various administrative tasks necessary to run this ministry, including raising funds, organizing volunteer trainings, recruiting churches to join in the work, and maintaining connections with the District Attorney's office and various police departments in order to locate crime victims to offer them our services. |
