| Introduction | Hey y’all, I’m Karly — a proud Florida Cracker, mom of three boys, wrangler of five doodles, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Around here, we cook with cast iron, season with stories, and carry on the traditions that built Florida long before the theme parks showed up. Cracker Cooking is my way of honoring the real Florida — the one with front porch suppers, roadside produce stands, and a deep agricultural legacy. Not everyone knows this, but the term Cracker comes from the sound of whips cracking as Florida cowboys drove cattle across the state. Long before the beaches and snowbirds, Florida was full of hardworking families, wide-open land, and some of the best down-home food you’ve ever tasted. This blog is for anyone who loves scratch cooking, simple ingredients, and a little Southern grit. Whether I'm firing up the Blackstone, experimenting with old family recipes, or sourcing meats from local butchers, I'm always cooking with heart — and maybe a little butter, too. So grab a sweet tea, pull up a chair, and welcome to the table. Let’s keep the tradition alive — one bite at a time. |
