This is the Artspace Blog for Digital Photography at IS 192 during the 2008 summer camp. The final project that you see on the left is a collage self portrait dealing with the use of symbolism in the construction of identity. The students researched animal symbolism and picked an animal that best represented a quality about themselves that they liked. Then, they found images of that animal online. They also found images that helped to represent the quality of the animal they were depicting. Next, in our contructed photo studio, they took self portraits that portrayed their 'animal self'. Finally, they artfully combined all of these images into a cohesive collage. These beautiful images are the result of their hard work and creativity. |
