Introduction	BEFORE: I began this blog in June 2010 while doing my PhD. I was researching picturebooks and foreign language development and it seemed a good idea to share all the exciting discoveries I was making about the picturebook as an aesthetic object. I also wanted to share all the picturebooks I came across .. many were unknown to teachers in English Language Teaching (ELT). I stopped blogging in 2014 - life just got too busy. NOW: July 2020 and I'm back to blogging again, exactly a decade since I began. I'm very excited! I'm now a research fellow at CETAPS, Nova University, Lisbon where I investigate early language learning. I'm researching picturebooks and intercultural citizenship education in Portuguese primary schools, so I thought I'd focus now on picturebooks that take teachers of English beyond the mundane of language learning, providing examples of the wide array of picturebooks that can contribute in developing citizenship through English.
