Introduction My career as a newspaperman was for 35 years from 1969 to 2004 at The Baltimore Sun where my assignments included Maryland state politics, Middle East correspondent in the 1970s and 1980s, foreign editor from 1991 to 2001 and associate managing editor and columnist from 2001 to 2004. After leaving The Sun, I kept a column until 2006 and worked as a freelance writer. My main client was Catholic Relief Services, the American Catholic church's agency for international development and disaster assistance, which took me to many coutries in Africa (Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Niger), Asia (India, Afghanistan and Pakistan), Latin America (El Salvador, Colombia & Mexico) and Haiti.
Favorite Movies Casablanca, Night of the Iguana, Airplane, M. Hulot's Holiday, all Mel Brooks films and all WC Fields films.
