| Introduction | Miami, once my home, is a long way from where I now live in North Central Florida not far from the Suwanee River. Although I've been in this serene neck of the woods for only seven years, it seems a long time ago when I was an award-winning copywriter, living in the city that inspired "Miami Vice" and was the playground of the international jet set. During those exciting Miami years, I was a member of The Miami Herald's marketing team. South Beach, that mecca of the rich and famous, was just across Biscayne Bay from the Herald building. Although I started writing in Jamaica many years ago, it was in Miami that I honed my skills as a writer. The competition was stiff and the standard high. Today, life is a little more laid back, allowing me time for fiction and poetry, the kind of writing I love best. |
