Introduction	The Orphan Sign Project is a collaborative, public art project that revitalizes abandoned signs on Historic Rt. 66. These signs, located in empty lots, are called "Orphans" by the historic preservation community. We recognize the historic value of Orphans on Central Avenue and see the potential for a collaborative public art project. Focusing in the Highland/International District, we are working with Highland High School art students to design new signs to install in the Orphans as public art pieces that will explore neighborhood identity.
