About me

Occupation stay-at-home-lawyer
Location Missouri, United States
Introduction Despite my extensive formal education, hefty student loans, and years of professional training, it is with four decades of life lessons that I approach mothering two precious children. Someday I will resume violin and cello lessons and learn to knit. Eventually, I will enjoy a meal where I won't have to cut anyone else's food before my own. In time, I'll probably take the truck sheets off of the "big bed" and won't have a sippee cup on the nightstand. I might even log 6 or more hours of uninterrupted sleep within the next decade. But for now, I have more immediate rewards like watching my big boy ride his two-wheeler down the street, or hearing my little one say "Momma" for the first time.
Interests Prehistoric mothers, Holocaust survivors, Montessori home education
Favorite Movies Everything looks great on the new 67" screen.
Favorite Music We're listening to the Suzuki Violin recordings of Books 1 and 2. But don't be fooled! We also get regular doses of the big boy's favorite song: Black Magic Woman, that he's trying to perfect on Guitar Hero. We keep three voice amplifying "microphones" in the van so that we can all "harmonize, " but that usually degenerates into their father assaulting us with grossly distorted adaptations of 80's rap, the little one "singing" one note and holding it as long as possible with his mouth agape the entire time, and the big boy belting out his newly mastered rendition of "Jingle Bells, Batman Smells..." all at the same time. Sometimes I plunk out a few melodies on the piano and recently dug my violin out from the storm shelter. With that gypsy blood in their veins, my babies will dance to anything.
Favorite Books My literary tastes seem to be stagnating at toddler favorites to include: Daddy Long Legs at Birch Lane, El Gato y El Perro, How I Became A Pirate, and Pirates Don't Change Diapers. On the upside, we received about a dozen new books on tape from Smithsonian's Backyard Series, including captivating tales (no pun intended) about animals like the fawn, rabbit, coyote, box turtle, and some interesting insects. Our kitchen table is no longer covered in library books and craft projects as I found a fancy 6' shelf to house supplies and the boys' picks about the Statue of Liberty, Johnny Appleseed, Rocketships, the Solar System (to include Pluto, as I plot my silent resistence) and favorites from the Batman series and Kitten's First Full Moon. I'm certain now that I won't finish the most recent Harry Potter book until my babies go away to college or join the circus. Meanwhile, I'm writing the story of my life one moment at a time. I should just start getting it onto paper...
