Introduction Welcome! Thanks for visiting. Here's my blog, which I've designed as a portfolio. I'm a writer and illustrator. I've also written, illustrated and designed hundreds of teacher lesson plans, crafts and printables posted online. Feel free to browse my website at http://www.carolbrookebooks.blogspot.com I have also worked as a K-2nd grade teacher and sole school counselor for 800 students.
Interests Spending time with my family, art, hiking, nature, curriculum development and writing. I love writing and illustrating children's books.
Favorite Movies I don't watch a lot of adult TV, because I have too much to do. I like watching and creating children's programming, because most adult shows are too graphic and not appropriate. I have a very difficult time actually sitting through a movie, and I tend to get bored. I do enjoy watching shows about travel, art, home decorating, nature and documentaries. Shows that I can learn something from hold my interest. I spend most of my time doing stuff and going places (not sitting watching TV), creating art and writing. I seriously don't understand how so many people find so much time to watch TV, and how they can watch such junk in front of their kids. It really is a problem in our culture. Television is destroying peoples minds because of the horrible images they are seeing on TV.
Favorite Music I like Christian music, Enya, Celtic, harp, guitar, flute, and nature music. I like some music from all eras. I like Sting, some modern stuff, 80's and 90's music. Of course, I enjoy my husband's guitar music, too.
Favorite Books I used to be a scholarly book reviewer and I went to college for ten years, so I've read a lot of books. I like scholarly text books about social science, science and the arts. I also like reading children's books. I enjoy reading books about personal growth and spiritual growth. I also enjoy how-to and arts and crafts books. I enjoy books about marriage, parenting and the different ways people learn and communicate. I like reading books about art, artists and innovative, interesting people.

When your science teacher smashed a frozen rose with a hammer, did you warm the petals to bring them back to life?

Of course, I made something out of it. I created a heart, mosaic, stained glass from the petals and hung it in my window. The warming light shines on the rose petals everyday, bringing it back to life. Reminding all of us how we can use the wisdom of our scars and a broken heart to bring love and light into the world.
