Introduction	Preaching was first planted in my heart at the age of 9 by a grandmother who had transformed the rough edge of life into a platform of hope for future generations. Her fanning the desire of a boy for ministry was complimented, on the other side of the family, by a granddad the boy hardly knew, having died when the burgeoning preacher was only four. It was memories of a man’s man who knew the hard work of the panhandle oil fields and the gentle nature of a shepherd’s touch, played through the reflections of family members, which directed the boy toward the pulpit. These two grandparents became standing stones for the faithful pursuit of a voice. Others have certainly given inspiration, but while these grandparents presented life-direction, it was the divine gift of friendship and love, through Carolon the possessor of my heart, which taught me the language of God.
