Introduction	Growing up in Omaha, Nebraska, Teryl was the sixth-grader who ticked off her classmates every Monday morning when she begged for the weekly composition assignment. Upon earning a BA in Spanish and Speech Communication, she used her writing skills to build a career in the adult education field – all the while yearning to create fictional characters who used snappy dialog. In 1995, she partnered with a brilliant entrepreneur (her former-husband) to start a home healthcare company. Most rewarding was her work as a caregiver to the elderly. Teryl lives with her husband, Alden, in Omaha. They share eight daughters, two of them teenagers, who challenge her negotiating skills daily. Getting remarried at age 50+, her biggest adjustment was learning to answer when being called “Grandma.”
