| Introduction | Thank you for visiting my blog! I hope that you learn more about the people of Nairobi and Missions of Hope by following my time here in Africa. I recently graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Valparaiso University. God called me to the continent of Africa and with the help of Traders Point Christian Church, I found the organization Missions of Hope in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. This large slum, called the Mathare Valley, has 10 different villages, spans about 2 miles and has a population of almost 1 million people. The citizens live in shanties, have little food and water, and on average, earn about 30 USD a month. I am interning in this place from September 8-December 15 and will be working with the Social Workers and in the Education Department. |
