Introduction | With few qualifications I went from job to job until I became a welder. It offered money but little else. But then I met my partner, Kim and had two fine boys. Kim helped me to move beyond the nagging feeling that I could have done so much more and supported me whilst I went back to college, and attained an ACCESS qualification, a B.A, M.A and the first year of a PhD; all in various aspects of English History. I also began working for the Norfolk Museum Service as a guide and freelance educator and it was here that I met many interesting people including Colin Howey who co founded my alternative history tour business; Tangle & Hump, Pedlars of the Past.We utilised much of my research on crime and punishment in Tudor & Stuart Norwich as well as finding out much more. It was at this time that I met story teller, Stewart Alexander and ran away from my PhD to become and itinerant teller of tales working under the names of Past-Imagined and the Yarnsmith of Norwich. But whilst I aim to carry on telling tales, I also have a desire to get back to my roots and rediscover much of the university research that forms the basis of this blog |
