Introduction With a PhD in Automotive Audio Engineering (also known as playing with car radios) it seemed sensible to work for local government doing something completely different. I started commuting to and from university in 2007 and quickly progressed to a 600 mile tour of the UK during my summer break. Before long my brother was building me a mountain bike and 6 months later I was traversing Pyrenean mountains with AQR Holidays. The racing bug was quickly discovered with my competitive side loving the racing atmosphere. A slight hiatus followed whilst I finished writing my tome about car radios but by early 2010 I was back into the racing scene and winning a few races along the way. In 2011 I started racing for local bike shop, Mountain Trax and also began more serious training with Kate and Ian Potter at AQR Coaching. Things were going well, until a bad crash resulted in a broken pelvis, surgery, titanium plates and a long road to recovery. This blog was started to remind me how far I have come since my crash and to write about all the things yet to come.
