Introduction Married early at 16, cheated out of a decent education and the life I really wanted, spent too damn long in a city I hated. Finally got the courage to leave my husband, went back to school, got a degree, reinvented myself and recaptured my youth and all that I lost due to a cultural expectation. I am now married to a wonderful supportive man. I have questions about my certain aspects of my religion, things that I have now come to realise are unalienable human rights. I have become a very liberal Hausa woman, been there, done that! Non conformist, non conservative. I truly want to make a difference in this world, passionate about female education especially for the muslim girl...which I believe is my calling. Everything happens for a reason and I believe my earlier experiences were just marking a path to my destiny. Welcome to my life.
Interests Movies, reading and travel (mostly in my imagination). Tahiti and Maldives were my favorite mind destinations...
Favorite Movies I go against the grain and conventional wisdom: I detest Hausa Movies with the very predictable story lines (kishiya, aure, soyyayya), substandard productions and pseudo-indian musical scores. I mostly enjoy comedies that always take me away from a dark, dark place. There's something about Mary, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Borat, My Cousin Vinny etc. Also like thrillers like No Way Out, The Bourne series, James Bond etc. Certainly no HORROR cos my delicate Fulani constitution cannot stomach the blood and gore.
Favorite Music Mostly R & B, and some intellectual rap like Common, Mos Def, Kanye West, Jay-Z but give me some Beyonce, Whitney Houston (pre Bobby Brown), Neyo, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys any day
