| Introduction | I was born able-bodied and enjoyed 23 years as such until a car accident left me with injuries requiring spinal surgery. Many complications later I was left needing to use an electric wheelchair to get around. Twelve years on from my accident I am now on the most challenging and rewarding endeavour I have ever embarked upon, in being 'Mummy' to my two two-legged babies and one furry four-legged baby. Life is a bit bonkers as I try to negotiate the usual pitfalls of life and parenthood with my trusty electric wheelchair 'The Beast' in tow. Although I’m thankful I no longer have to use my chair all of the time, I love an adventure and to travel, so love to keep my life interesting by trekking all over the country and the world with dog, kids and ‘The Beast’- Ten Legs Four Wheels! I am happily married to my best friend who has been my rock through this whole process of accepting, overcoming and finally embracing my new physical circumstances. I mostly waffle about the crazy, often highly humorous situations I get myself into whilst also trying to keep an honest and open dialogue about mental health. |
