Introduction	My name is Carol Fishbein and I am currently in my 2nd year as a 5th grade public school teacher in Pawtucket, RI. Previously, I taught 3rd grade at that same school, after a few years of subbing. My present class is approximately 1/3rd ESL, though realistically, few of the children come from homes where English is their primary language. I hold Bachelors degrees in Sociology and Biochemistry, and Masters degrees in Social Work and Education. I have been fortunate to earn many academic honors and awards throughout my college years, as well as matriculate at an ivy league medical school for 2 years, while performing research in a Spanish Harlem medical clinic. Prior to teaching, I also worked as a medical social worker, and co-authored a book for physicians. I've had many volunteer experiences working in the juvenile court system, at Hospice,and as a Girl Scout leader for 10 years. I love to travel, sing, and laugh. Despite the fact that I am rather ancient, I hope that blogging will help make the connection for me between the past and the future, technologically. I am always looking for ways to make my teaching more relevant and fun for the kids.
