About me

Gender Male
Occupation Medical Student
Location Konkovo, Moscow, Russia
Introduction This is basically what you need to know about me: I am a Malaysian, currently studying medicine in Moscow, Russia. Some might be wondering, why Russia, isn't it a lot different compared to my warm, tropical homeland??? How can I stand the freezing cold here?? But the thing is, that I have a great passion for Russia, its rich culture, language (which is nicknamed 'Великий могучий' or the 'great and mighty'), people and of course...climate!! However, my motherland is my priority, and as the Russians themselves say, it's better to be a guest, but being at home is much better (в гостях хорошо, а дома лучше). There's no reason why should I leave my country for good. But surely, leaving Russia (one day) is not a happy choice for me neither! Speaking about my personality, frankly I am a self-criticising person, but however am optimistic about the future. At least I try to improve myself and build up my self confidence. I am basically friendly, although might be shy with newly met friends at first but as time goes by I treat them very well. Love humble, smart and kind people, and hate arrogant, ignorant and evil people.
Interests As I have already stated, I have a great interest in Russia, its culture, language, people, climate etc... Also interested in other Slavic languages. Travelling is also my passion. Won't regret spending money on it, because the experience we obtain is priceless. Would love to explore more of Europe and Russia. Besides, I enjoy finding friends from around the world, and that is my main reason why I joined interpals. This search is not something new to me. Since I was a kid, I actively browsed through the MIRC and Yahoo! Chat channels (not recommended for kids below 13 though, but thank God, He kept me away from those negative influences on MIRC) and made friends with people from around the world. These people opened up my mind and made me more eager to explore the world~~~ Love to be alone at times, surfing the net and studying, but on weekends I enjoy hanging out with friends, Russians and Malaysians (sometimes Dutch). The most frequent place visited is the Red Square in Moscow, at least as a point of meeting/start. Sometimes we go shopping, ice-skating, visit museums, theaters, and festive events. A doctor-wannabe as a profession, but a linguistic, sociologic and ethnologic maniac as merely a pastime (because in my opinion it's hard to make a living out of it).
Favorite Movies I LOVE movies that are based on my favourite novels and thrillers, like Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code & Angels and demons, and Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" and the upcoming "New Moon"!!!! Anything by Disney like Enchanted and Bedtime Stories, just to name a few. and lots more...
Favorite Music Pretty universal. I can practically listen to any song that I think is nice. But to be more specific, I especially love folk songs from around the world (because they exhibit cultures), pop songs by bands such as Westlife (oooh my all-time fave!), ABBA and some of the best Indonesian bands (in Indonesian Malay) like Letto, Dewa etc. Sigur Ros, an Icelandic band has recently instantly became my favourite! Can't think of more, because there are just lots of em! Oh yeah, and I can be a national anthem freak too! It may be hard to believe (perhaps because my philosophy is "Listen to just any song that is nice to you"), but imagine me singing the Czech, Polish, Russian, Dutch, German, Filipino, Indonesian, Singap orean, South African ... national anthems, and automatically learning them by heart!!
Favorite Books Academic : Cardiovascular pathology - Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy. Novels : JUST ANYTHING by Dan Brown will do (that includes the Da Vinci Code, Deception Point, Angels and Demons & Digital Fortress), Stephenie Meyer (Twilight saga) and a gifted Malaysian writer, Faisal Tehrani. Others : Travel guides by lonely planet, and guides about national stereotypes & cultures.
