| Introduction | Assistant Professor at the Department of Global Humanities of Simon Fraser University. Publications include 'Turkish Politics and ‘The People’ Mass Mobilisation and Populism' (2022); 'Islam in Europe: Public Spaces and Civic Networks' (with Roza Tsagarousianou, 2013); 'Tormented by History: Nationalism in Greece and Turkey' (with Umut Özkırımlı -2007) and 'Nation and Identity in Contemporary Europe' (with Brian Jenkins - 1997). I am lead editor of #RethinkingPopulism.net. My research focuses on the study of populism, social movements, identities and collective action, Muslim communities in Europe and North America, nationalism, Islamism, conflict and coexistence in Southeastern Europe and the Middle East, and the theory and practice of multiculturalism.
