| Introduction | When I moved back to the Lehigh Valley in 2006, I realized that many of my newcomer friends had the same complaints and questions—there is nothing to do around here, it is hard to meet new people, what is up with all the ‘fests? I'm part transplant (wasn’t born in the Valley), part native (grew up here), and part “boomerang” (returned after living in Washington, DC, for nine years). Together, we'll examine the things that mystify newcomers, including "trick or treat" on nights other than Halloween, complain about the fact that there's no Trader Joe's, and how it feels to receive directions based on places that aren’t there anymore. We'll also examine trends and celebrate the arrival of new businesses and concepts, especially to downtown areas in cities and boroughs. |
