| Introduction | Gary Wiblin was born in Port Elizabeth 45 years ago. He is a 10 000-hour Commercial Pilot and Flying Instructor, and flies for a national airline. He is a member of the PE Police Air Wing and holds the rank of Captain. He started his working life as an apprentice motor mechanic, a pupil technician at the post office, and then worked for eight years as a qualified Tool and Die Maker. In 1999 he invented a crank-handle type towbar for moving light aircraft around on the ground and, due to his being a qualified Tool and Die Maker, now successfully manufactures and exports eight different models all around the world. Three years ago he launched his own aviation magazine (Aviation & Safety), which has become very popular, and 6000 copies are now distributed each month through CNA and Exclusive Books. He is the author of the book “What Your Instructor Didn't Teach You”. His hobbies have included water-skiing, surfing, skateboarding, moto-X, and music. He is also an EAB examination recognized estate agent and is happily married to Belinda and has two children: Ashleigh 16, and Gavin 9. |
