| Introduction | On May 8th this year I threw my twin lungs a NINE YEAR birthday. It was a farewell party actually as, after all these years of a great partnership, they are failing. The transplant team has offered me a second chance. Just like that! Very exciting for me. Statistics, it seems, had begun to tell that while most seconds were failures, those who were only failing because of BOOP (bronchiolisis oblitrans organizing pneumonia) were having almost as much success as first timers. It was on the exact day of my first transplant, in the middle of the birthday party that I heard I'd be listed. I'm stunned to find myself back on the fundraising trail.Friends, co-workers and perfect strangers were all so forthcoming and generous the first time around and raised enough money for me to go to Toronto with no worries except the obvious ones of health and personal care. Asking again is very hard but without you, I cannot do this. Already a gang of people have begun to think up and implement ingenious ways to collect money and in-kind support for my big adventure. I and my son Gaelen are very grateful. |
