Gender Female
Industry Publishing
Occupation Designer
Location Columbia, Missouri, United States
Introduction A native Californian, I graduated from the University of California, Riverside in 2006 with a B.A. in English, Magna Cum Laude. In addition to earning my degree, I had up until that time also been working for a professional photography studio as a photo editor, which led to my post-graduate job in Los Angeles as an album designer for a competitive event photography studio (I still do consistent freelance work for them, creating digital photo albums for clients that “tell the story” of an event).

But, I’ve always felt the pull of the publishing world. So, last January, I took a leap of faith, applied to the University of Missouri’s renowned journalism program in Columbia and moved there with crossed fingers. I am now pursuing a master’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in magazine design and feel as if I am finally bringing together my wide interests in writing, design and photography. Throughout this year I will be studying historical and current elements of editorial publication design in an academic context and implementing that theoretical framework in design work done for local publications.

This blog will document my design infancy…
