| Introduction | I am working on my PhD in English Literature. I am interested in Modernism mainly and was bitten by the "Joyce bug" in my undergraduate endeavors. Other authors and poets I like other than James Joyce include: Wislawa Szymborska, Billy Collins, Jose Saramago, Ian McEwan, Aldous Huxley and George Orwell (any Utopian/ dystopian novelist really), Dante, Li-Young Lee, Jane Austen, Edith Sitwell, Jhumpa Lahiri...I could on! |
| Interests | Books, art, comics, writing, anything involving my hands like sewing, making jewelry, knitting, collage art...etc. |
| Favorite movies | It's a Wonderful Life, Bride and Prejudice, Disney films particularly Up, and all Doris Day and Rock Hudson romantic comedies... |
| Favorite music | Acoustic guitar, movie soundtracks, pop music. |
| Favorite books | James Joyce's Ulysses, FW, and Giacomo Joyce, Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess, Wislawa Szymborska's Collected Poems, Frigyes Karinthy's A Journey Round My Skull, Homer's The Odyssey, William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Rohinton Mistry's A Fine Balance (I cried the whole time I was reading, an absolute must!), Jhumpa Lahiri's Interpeteur of Maladies, Elizabeth Enright's Tatsinda (I found this book in my grandmother's attic), Archie Digest No.26 (my first one and I've been hooked ever since), Kevin Brockmeier's The Brief History of the Dead, Thomas Canter's Indian Giver (and also his new one Salvation for an Angel but it's not out yet), Thorton Wilder's Our Town, Ian McEwan's Atonement, George Orwell's 1984 |
