| Introduction | I am now a retired first grade teacher with 26 years of teaching behind me. I am the wife of Jim for 35 years and the mother of James and Patrick for soon-to-be 31 and 27 years. A pianist, a former organist, and a handbell ringer--- I was a church musician (thanks to my piano teacher, my organ teacher and my mentor, Gene Lorey.) I am also a PWP or a person with Parkinson's Disease. Diagnosed in 1996, I became much worse, in 2002, after a very stress filled year. Then in 2003 I joined the "Hole in the Head" gang when I had deep brain surgery to implant two brain stimulators similar to a pacemaker. The wires were implanted too and a few days later I was "turned on" and "programmed" and life began anew. Now, eight years later and I have had both batteries replaced twice and am still going strong. We've cruised the Caribbean, Alaska, and the entire Mediterranean,the Mexican Riviera,from Panama to Costa Rica, Columbia, Aruba, and Fort Lauderdale. It's a great way to travel! Last year we took has been a land tour to China and a river cruise on the Yangtzee River while there. Last month we spent two weeks cruising across and then around the Hawaiian Islands. |
