Introduction My career in the arts began as a dancer and a performer, after taking an interest in fashion design I was introduced to fiber arts. My work with two dimensional visual arts began in textile surface design which lead me to felting, knitting, rug hooking and weaving. Through this progress I became aware of the strong interdisciplinary aspects in creating modern and contemporary art. During my last year of under graduate at Prescott College I conducted an independent study in the history of textiles, during this study I was introduced to the Bauhaus weaving workshop. I then began to read more about the Bauhaus. I have viewed the world of modern and contemporary art through this lens ever since. This process lead me to combine my love of fiber arts and the Bauhaus. I am presently writing a thesis on these subjects, After the Bauhaus: Weaving and Fiber in Contemporary Art (to be completed in December 2011). This blog is a place for me to share my thoughts and discoveries of where I see the Bauhaus in the contemporary world whether it be in a museum, gallery or on the streets of NYC.
