| Introduction | I'm a sociocultural anthropologist with research interests in Africa and the African diaspora; museums and memory work; ritual and globalization; community conservation and social adaptation to environmental transformation; public art and popular aesthetics in comparative perspective including, at the present moment, artistic responses to the Covid-19 pandemic. I have directed the Michigan State University Museum in East Lansing, Michigan. and the Museum of Culture and Environment at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington.
