| Introduction | I became a monk in 1995. For the next three years, I studied in a Buddhist Institute and functioned as a lecturer for young monks. Upon receiving my master's degree in 1998, I began serving at various monasteries in Taiwan where I fulfilled a variety of roles and acquired an all-around understanding concerning monastic affairs. In 2002, I came to the US and served in a Zen Center as Chanting Director and Buddhism Lecturer. While in this capacity, I was fortunate to work with hundreds of racially diverse young adults. Later I formed the Awesome Youth Group, an affiliation dedicated entirely toward educating children, young adults and their parents about meditation. By 2006, I had also founded the Awakening Mind Chan Center to continue the teaching of meditation in the US. Starting in January 2007, I began offering various Dharma lectures at Jade Buddha Temple. Most recently, I successfully established a Buddhist student organization at the University of Houston and served as the dharma teacher and president. As a dharma worker, I seek practical, progressive, and down-to-earth approaches to Buddhism but also strive for innovation, creativity, and vision. |
