Introduction This blog started out as a way to keep family and friends informed and updated on Andrew's condition when he was in the hospital, starting with a stroke in June of 2012. Andrew has had issues, mostly unexplainable by doctors since 1999. He has been a medical mystery for years. When Andrew had a stroke in June 2012, he slowly went down hill for over a month, leading to a seizure the doctors couldn’t get under control that lasted 21 hours, leading to a coma for weeks then eventually leading to us having to say goodbye to him at the young age of 19, on the evening of July 23rd, 2012. The doctors came to the conclusion that he had Mitochondrial Disease. This is what we've been through, i am hoping this will be helpful to someone else, and therapeutic for myself.
Interests Andrew loved wrestling, we are left with tons of wrestling action figures still in boxes un touched. He loved to play video games, and he loved to watch cartoons, especially the Family Guy. Andrew was happy doing anything as long as he had company. He loved when my mom had company over, he loved socializing and loved playing with his cousins and niece. In the summer time, you would find him outside playing basketball in the back yard, down the street at the neighbors house, or swimming in the pool in the back yard.
Favorite Movies Andrew loved any kind of scary movie. He LOVED Horror Movies, you would often see him on weekends getting his bowl of popcorn ready to sit down to watch the SAW series, or the Paranormal Activity series of movies. He loved Freddy, Jason, Chucky, the scarier the better. He used to make my Dad take him to see the horror movies in the theater and my Dad would scare him for the next couple days after they got home. They would love to mess with each other. There is nothing more than I would love to do now than microwave a huge bowl of popcorn and sit down with Andrew to watch days of Horror movies. You really realize what matters in life when you lose someone so close to you.
Favorite Music Andrew had some …”unique” I guess is a good word to use… taste in music. Any time we had to get in the car with my Dad and Andrew, Andrew would be sitting up front DJing the entire time. He would make us listen to some very “Unique” kinds of music. Every once in awhile he would switch it up with some Lady Gaga or Nirvana. I do think some of my parents taste in older music wore off on him. And I do recall listening to the occasional Country song or two with him. He seemed to like all music really..
