Introduction	My blog began as a record of my attempt to turn an ordinary yard into a perennial flower garden. The garden today is a going concern. The blog slowly morphed into a format for short essays on other activities as well, extending the notion of the garden to other fields, Hence, 'the garden of verse,' the garden of history,' 'the garden of facts,' etc. So the blog now has roots in gardening and love of nature, along with my activities as a fiction writer, poet and essayist.

Favorite movies	This year's favorites include Roma, Capernaum, Shoplifters. Traditional favorites include the LOTR trilogy, the Hitchcock classics (Vertigo, North By Northwest, etc.), classic films by Truffaut, Bergman, and Fellini, and the more recent classics by the Coen Brothers.
Favorite music	Classical, World Music, Classic Rock, Jazz, Blues, contemporary Instrumentals by George Winston and others
Favorite books	Sons and Lovers, Leaves of Grass, As I Lay Dying, Walden, The Daemon Knows, Shakespeare Plays, Snow, Mrs. Dalloway, Pride and Prejudice, The Wine Dark Sea, Sacco and Vanzetti, The Lord of the Rings, The Dispossessed.
