Introduction Our mission – learning through love and care.>>>>>>> The Sunshine Unit was set up in 1997 by a group of concerned parents of children with learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia and attention deficit. It is hosted by the New Ramses College in Ghamra. It was established as a non-profit, parent managed, special educational needs entity, and, as such, is the first of its kind in Egypt. It aims to develop each child’s educational potential. Well qualified staff create individually tailored educational programmes for each child with carefully set goals. Pupils follow the British National Curriculum and receive one-to-one tutoring. The staff-student ratio is 1:2. Specially designed programmes for Arabic, art, handicrafts and domestic science run simultaneously, as well as numerous extra-curricular activities.>>>>>>> The long term goal is to return students to mainstream schools. Where this is not appropriate we offer the Penn Foster American High School Diploma for our older students.
