| Introduction | My background is in psychology, child & family studies,and art. I've worked in the behavioral health field and health insurance. I'm a photographer & writer as well as a parent of two special needs children with autism and one amazing daughter.These things make me a crusader for healthcare, education and opportunities for children with Autism and ALL disabilities. Living with disabilities is a constant challenge as each day holds new struggles and often good surprises. The fight will continue until Autism is understood by all. It starts with the child or children we raise in our home. Helping them be their best is the first line of battle and then showing their capabilities to the world is the second. Getting our children excited about their accomplishments, whether it be eating a mushy food for the first time, taking off the noise canceling headphones for a minute, or reading for the first time, is the best reward we get as parents/caregivers/therapists. I am also a crusader for kind treatment of others by doing away with judgement, opinions and gossip, and replacing those with learning, understanding and compassion.I appreciate your time and hope you'll join us. |
