| Introduction | Sewing is one of my connections to my mother. When I was a teenager, my mother taught herself to sew. She did this because we could not afford to buy the clothes that my friends had. The first thing that she made me was a cotton purple paisley skirt with an elastic waist. She made all of my garments for my senior year events. My favorite garment was a brown tweed coat. My mother stopped sewing after we got older. I will always appreciate her for turning me onto sewing. I am lucky enough to have my own sewing room that is my retreat. Currently I have almost all of the machines and notions that I need to sew. I am also a fabric collector. I find the time that I spend in my sewing room to be very relaxing and stress reducing. |
